Accepting tips with Tap to Pay

Allow your customers to easily add a tip to their payment using Tap to Pay

Note: This feature is not available to all Autobooks users. If Tap to Pay is not present in your mobile experience, contact your financial institution to inquire about Tap to Pay.

Enabling the Tipping feature

  1. Update your financial institution's mobile app to the latest version through the iOS App Store. NOTE: If you do not see the following steps even after the latest update, your financial institution does not yet offer the tipping feature.
  2. Open Tap to Pay from your financial institution's mobile banking app.
  3. A pop up message will display, letting you know that tipping is now available. You can enable tipping by tapping OKNOTE: You can toggle the tipping feature on or off through the Settings option in the upper right corner of the application.

Using the Tipping feature

Once you've enabled Tips within Tap to Pay, your customer will see an option to add a tip to their purchase.

  1. Enter the purchase amount as usual.
  2. A new interim screen will appear providing your customer choices on adding a tip to their purchase.  Present your phone to your customer so that they may select an option. The tip amount associated with their choice will be added to the total purchase amount.
  3. Click the Charge button to complete the purchase transaction. The customer will then complete the payment by holding their credit/debit card or virtual wallet to your iPhone.

 

Viewing tip information after the sale

Both you and your customer (if you'v sent them a receipt) will see the tip as a line item breaking down the total purchase amount.

You can view the tip by accessing the purchase in your Payments list, then clicking the payment transaction you wish to view. The details of the payment transaction will show the tip:

Your customer will see the tip amount in their emailed receipt (if you've sent them a receipt):
