Manage a recurring Payment Link payment schedule

You and your customer can view, edit, or cancel any recurring payment schedule created through Payment Link

When a customer sets up a recurring payment through your Payment Link, you can manage that schedule directly from your Payments list. From the Manage Recurring Schedule page, you can update the amount, frequency, or note, swap the payment method, or cancel the schedule. Your customer has access to the same options through a link in their recurring-payment notification emails.

How to open the Manage Recurring Schedule page

  1. Open Payments in the left navigation.
  2. Find the recurring payment. Recurring charges are marked with a recurring icon (↻) next to Payment Link in the Source column. You can also use the Recurring only filter to narrow the list.
  3. Click the payment row to open its detail panel. A Schedule row will appear, showing the cadence and next payment date.
  4. In the actions menu, click Manage Recurring Schedule.

Editing a schedule

Click Edit Schedule to open a form pre-filled with the current amount, frequency, and note. You can change any of the following:

  • Amount: Enter the updated amount. An amount of zero is not accepted.
  • Frequency: Toggle between Weekly and Monthly. The day carries over automatically, and a line below the toggle always shows when the next charge will land.
  • Note: Up to 250 characters. This note appears on the schedule and in confirmation emails to your customer.

Click Update Schedule to save. The button stays grayed out until at least one field has changed. When the update saves, your customer receives a confirmation email and you receive a notification.

Changing only the amount or note does not move the next charge date. Switching the frequency does change the charge date, and the new date will be shown in the form before you save.

Changing the payment method

  1. Click Change next to the payment method.
  2. Select Credit Card or Bank Account and enter the new details.
  3. Click Save. Future charges will use the new method.

To keep the current method, click Keep current payment method to close the form without saving.

Note: Only the payment types your account is set up to accept will appear as options. If your account is only set up for ACH payments, you will not see card payments. Similarly, if your account is only set up to collect card payments, ACH will not show as an option.

Canceling a schedule

  1. Click Cancel Schedule. A confirmation dialog will appear.
  2. Type a reason in the field provided. This is required (up to 250 characters). Your customer will see this reason on their schedule page and in their cancelation notification email.
  3. Click Cancel recurring schedule to confirm, or Keep schedule to close the dialog without making changes.

Canceling a schedule does not refund anything already charged. Any charge already in process will still settle. To issue a refund, go to the individual payment in the Payments list.

How your customer manages their schedule

Every recurring-payment notification email your customer receives contains a link to their version of the schedule page. No sign-in is required. From that page they can view the schedule, edit the amount, frequency, or note, change their payment method, cancel the schedule, or restart it.

Note: The customer page is accessed by a link, not a login. Anyone with the link can manage that schedule. A link holder can change or stop payments, but money always moves to your account.

If a recurring payment schedule has stopped and you would like to restart it, see Restart a recurring payment schedule.
